Hello Supergran - you don't say where your capsicum is growing - outdoors or in a greenhouse, which might make a difference. I've never had this problem with my peppers and wonder whether the compost is either too dry, or perhaps has either run out of nutrient, or perhaps the roots have become a little potbound. What size pot are you using? I use 9 inches and by this time of year the roots have already spread throughout the pot. I keep my peppers in drip trays. Sometimes you can water them and whilst the top compost looks moist, the water hasn't soaked right down and moistened the compost right through. Drip trays enable any surplus water to be soaked back up if this happens.
Hi, It is growing in a 9inch pot in the Greenhouse now, it had to spend some time in the porch, as we had had very high winds 3 weeks ago, and as I had left the greenhouse door open while I went to fetch feed etc from garden shed, a 65mph gust hit the greenhouse and 10 panes of glass went. The only plant that was suffering from the high winds was my pepper plant. Perhaps it would benefit from a drip tray.It has about another 8 flowers and I am dreading the fact that they may all drop off!!

You may be lucky and find that the trauma which affected earlier flowers will not affect the later ones now it's in a stable environment. Just keep the compost moist, feed once a week with a tomato fertiliser and all will probably be well.
All of us have bad luck with plants occasionally (and sometimes often) so don't blame yourself just because you're a newbie to gardening. Even those of us who have been growing veggies for years sometimes don't know what causes our little disasters. That's probably why we never give up and each year hope for better results.
