This summer I've been growing Unwins Pandero which is their new dark red leaved Cos lettuce type in a border which also contains flowers. I've been very impressed with it. The leaves are a dark red, (almost black) and as well being a very decorative plant to grow, it's been interesting to grow a lettuce that isn't green. I know Lollo Rosso and some other produce reddish leaves, but this one really is very dark and quite unusual and the leaves store well in the vegetable box in the fridge.

Hi Primrose,
The only difference apart from the dark colour Lollo Rossa can be picked and will last for a long time giving many meals whereas Pandero is harvested as a whole lettuce. I had a look on Dobies website and it certainly looks good. Hope it tastes likewise.
