Well I have just got back from my Pilates class and it is looking very black out of my kitchen window looking towards Pendle Hill. (Cant see Pendle Hill because of a leylandii hedge) But the sky is black. I am going to bring my washing in and then going up to the plot to check everything. I will stillbe suprised to see it rain.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Catherine,

Instead of Pilates, you should be doing a rain dance :)

Looks pretty black here as well, but no rain so far today.
Cheers PJ.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long...........

Hi PJ. Just come home a bit damp. We have had a couple of showers but nothing which will do any good and the sun is out now so it will dry things up. It was just light rain. However it might rain in the night which will do more good. Fingers crossed. Where we are going on holiday a week on Sunday in Greece they are having thunderstorms!!! :( It looked like Monika might have fared a bit better as it was very black looking towards Skipton and the rain was coming from her direction. So I hope she has had a good downpour. Its really funny if you listen to the radio that London seems to be the only place in the country as they only talk about the awful weather they are having and not mentioning the lovely weather we have been having up here. Oh and I forgot to bring the washing in so it is damp again.

Hello Catherine, we did have a little more than you (about one and a half millimetre), just damping the surface, followed by sunshine again. But we spent all morning using our new contraption on the allotment and giving everything a good soak, though, as Lurganspade says, there's nothing like a good downpour! None forecast, unfortunately.

Hi Catherine,

Let's hope there aren't any more earthquakes out there. I've just looked at the forecast for Salzburg, and it's cloudy and raining. Best take the wet weather gear with us.
Cheers PJ.

Hi PJ I have a friend out in Kefallonia and she says that she was terrified when the earthquake happened all her kitchen cupboards shook. Typical of Austria for June definately take your wet weather kit. Only a light shower again today. Had to water again.

How are things with you Monika?

Planted some cabbages this morning and puddled them well in, just then a very short, heavy shower, and since then all sunshine and strong westerly wind again! That won't do the transplanted cabbages any good but they should recover over night. One of our allotment neighbours was digging part of his plot and remarked that the soil was just "running" off his spade, just like sand.
I really do long to wake up one night and hear it pouring down! I will turn over and drop off to sleep again, happy.

Went to Lancaster yesterday - wipers both directions, onto to dry roads a mile from home. Went to Ingleton this morning - wipers on the way home but stopped before I got there. Given ten spots from time to time but continued to go round us. Sunny windy midge free evening drying even more.

We've had a lot of cloud about all day, but no rain. My daughter's making a rare visit on Sunday, and we are hoping to go for long walk along the beach, so it'll probably rain all day
Cheers PJ.

Not a cloud in the sky here this morning, and can also hear the Lions and Wolves, so there must be a light North Westerly breeze.

Now what shall i have for breakfast. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Good morning OH. Just out of interest and pardon my ignorance but who or what are the Lions and Wolves. Do you have a safari park near you :?

The weather forecast last night said that there could be a frost  Too late to go up to the plot as it was going dark and I am afraid I might bump into a rat as lots of chickens on our site. This morning the temperature gauge in our garden states it is 6.5 degrees and has been down to 4.5 degrees. I do hope everything has survived in the plot.

Another morning with clear blue skies. Just off to put my washing out then time to have a cup of tea and read the paper before my OH gets up.
