my baby sweetcorn plants are a couple of inches high now, but look not very healthy and some of the leaves are going brown - I am thinking maybe I should just start again - am I too late to sow again now?

My sweet corn got shredded this weekend and they were only planted out on Friday so I am going to start some more after that information thanks very much richard p. I too thought I would be too late.

You can always give them a bit more time via greenhouses or tunnels. A bit more warmth will help you to gain a month or so.
