I wonder if anyone could give me advice on growing celeriac, although I've had a veg garden for many years i've never tried them.At the moment I've got seedlings pricked out in trays and they are about 1 inch and a half tall, what do I do next?!! wasn't sure how big to let them get before I transplanted them.
Many thanks gracie.

I would now pot them on to 3" pots Gracie.
Grow them on till you have a good size plant about 4" tall. (sorry I still work in old money) 10 Cm.
Keep them well watered, they don't like to have any check to their growth. Plant out at the end of May.
They are marsh plants so will do well in semi-shade.
Keep well watered throughout the growing period.
As the root swells remove some of the lower leaves to allow it to develop.
Best Wishes
Beryl.

I planted my celeriac out last weekend.
As Beryl suggested, these would have been between 3-5" high and seem to be quite comfortable (though of course this week nights have been mild and the tempeatures in the mid-20's during the day).

You are more trusting than me Colin. They won't like a cold snap so fingers crossed yours will be well established while the good weather lasts.

I grow celeriac every year. I read somewhere that it is a good idea to trim the leaves away which grow above 10cm [it actually says 3 inches, but what's an inch between friends?] while they are in the pots. I tend to plant out late May, because that's Half term, so I have the time. Beryl's said it all as far as anything else goes.
Good luck with it,Gracie and JoJoB; the effort is worth it.
