My lovely stargazing chick is now two years old and fully grown.

However, his "demands" on Selsey have been getting a bit much and I was recently given three new ladies for his harem, all Light Sussex like him.

Yes, I can count, one was off laying an egg in the shed.

Is he one LUCKY cockerel? :D

For those who are new to the tale of Rocky, he was a very damaged baby who spent his first few months of life like this

Dear Chantal, please don't do that, for an awful minute i thought something terrible had happened.

He certainly does look in good health now.
I suppose he's like most men though, responds to a bit of loving care. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Chantal....he has turned into a very fine boy...considering the state he was in the last time I saw him....all bruised and bullied, bless him.

He certainly seems to have got the strut back into his stride

What a lovely story. Lucky he had you though, I bet a lot of people would have just given up on him - he did look very sick.

I'm a soft touch Sarah, luckily for him. So many people advised me that the kindest thing would be to pull his neck but I just couldn't give up on him.

In fact, his injuries saved his life as his six brothers were all moved on to a farm to roam around for a year and then end up on a plate somewhere.
I was determined not to get attached to any of them because of this, but that poor battered little chick totally wiped me out (and Seedling come to that).

Dear Chantal,
When I saw the heading "Rocky 2008" I thought I was going to read his obituary and I thought "how sad, after seeing how you lovingly nursed him back to health". So delighted to see how he is now. It's truly a story of how tender loving care can transform an animal. He is one lucky creature.
