whitefly on blueberry
Moderators: KG Steve, Chantal, Tigger, peter
I've got a blueberry bush overwintering in my unheated greenhouse, however it seems to have got infested with what look like whitefly (not the brassica ones, but smaller and leaving it sticky), anyway I've put it outside now as its in flower, but I was concerned that the whitefly will linger on and affect my tomatoes when I plant them up in there, I have never had whitefly on my tomatoes before and its my 7th year with the greenhouse. What preventative measures could I take?

I always thought blueberries were hardy - certainly I've always left my three bushes outside all winter and they're happy as larry. You could spray the inside of the greenhouse with insecticidal soft soap to get rid of the whitefly, but I've had thought that if there's nothing much else in there now the whitefly won't have anything to eat so will die or move on.
