Am I a real gardener now?

Okay, confession time. I have just been down to the allotment to put some kitchen bits in the compost bin. As I was leaving I saw that a passing horse had 'left some manure' on the road outside. I thought about it briefly, and even turned to go home, but couldn't resist, and picked it up with bare hands, into my bucket and then put it in the compost bin. (I should do a R de T and wear gloves permanently!) I didn't think I'd been spotted but unfortunately my neighbour saw me. Luckily he too is a gardener and said he would have done the same!

Dear Sarah, as long as you don't start following horses round with a bucket, you should be fine. 
That does bring memories back of when i was a boy though, i always went out with a bucket and shovel if the horses left anything on the road.

Me too....but I had to be quick as everyone was doing the same.... it almost came to serious fights over a half bucket of horse muck... those were the days 
I am in my own little world, ...it's OK, ...they know me there!

Yes you definitely are. My OH absolutely refuses to take a bucket and spade in his car boot so that I can pick up these unexpected "opportunities" in country lanes near us when riding school horses pass by. So frustrating to miss out on a nice big dollop, even if it can't be used immediately, except on the compost heap!

OH....
A few years ago I stayed in London at a Hotel in Swiss Cottage.... early each morning the Horse Guards pass by on their way from the nearby stables to the City for duty.... following them closely behind were two lovely ladies with buckets....could it have been?
