A quick note to introduce myself.
My names Mike a 52 year old from South Birmingham.
Very new to gardening, especially vegetable gardening, my family are into horticulture in a very big way, but i am afraid that the gene must have missed me out. So i thought i would give it a go.
I have created a raised bed in November on a bit of land at the bottom of the garden about 3.5 x 3.5 mtrs, I have been working the soil for about 3 months, and have got it just about right. There is a lot of clay.
I have now built my bean frame, done 3 big tubs for carrots, and planted my onion sets, supplied courtesy of the local allotments. This weekend the potatoes are going it.
Well thats me upto date with progress, and the positive side is nothing has died yet.
Hope you guys will be able to help with any problems, looks like a great forum to compliment a great mag.
Mike

Welcome to the world of veggie gardening. Like us all you will have your ups and downs but keep going as the pleasure that is given when a crop comes good greatly outways the down side. I have been hooked on veggie growing now and also enjoy the break it gives me from the day to day events as I can relax and just chill. The very best of luck mate.
cheers now

Hi there Tilton! glad you found us!
Hi Tiltonblue and welcome to our little online community. You can ask asnything on here and someone will know the answer.
Glad to have you here and good luck with the raised beds. If Old Herbaceous gets too cheeky, just threated to trim his roots with some blunt secateurs........ it normally does the trick
