Club root prevention

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I`ve just discovered that the land our new allotments are on has had clubroot in the past. The farmer has advised liming. If I use the same tools there as at home what precautions should I take to prevent taking it home? Is liming effective, and at what density?

Hi Brooklyn, it's worth doing a search from the menu above, as the topic of clubroot has been discussed many times.

You'll see there are a few approaches, including both lime & ane even rhubarb leaves! Personally, I don't lime the whole brassica plot - more details here. In fact I'm planting out about 30 cabbages this morning that are ready to go into our clubrooty allotment.

However if you're growing large numbers of plants, this approach may not be practical for you.
