I'm sitting here typing this dawn (5:49am BST) because some mindless, inconsiderate tosser thought it funny to drive down our road at precisely 2:53am repeatedly sounding his horn. It wasn't a consistant blaring, more like him trying to play a tune. I don't know how many people he woke up but I for one didn't get back to sleep. After nearly three hours of lying there not sleeping, I've given up and made a cup of tea.

I am so ANGRY, as well as tired. Why do that sort of thing?

Dear Chantal, i was dreading it was going to be me that you were on about. :)

Hope you don't feel to grumpy.

I know what you mean about being disturbed and not getting back to sleep Chantal. We have a chap who is obviously on a shift job because at 5.15am every other week he drives up our road on a 50cc trail bike without a silencer. It sounds like an angry bee and he doesnt go very fast. He wakes me up every time. Last week I poked my head round the curtains to look at him and he saw me. So he knows what he is doing. It makes me so cross.

and my pet hate is the idiots who feel that its okay to hit the car horn to let someone know their lift has arrived.... at any hour of the morning. Getting out of the car or phoning would be just too much effort, and Hey! everyone keeps the same hours as them, don't they?

I realise this now makes me eligible for the Grumpy Old Women club, think I'd better go think mellow thoughts in my garden for a while.

I think I could be chairman of the Grumpy Old Women Club this morning.

Having had a cup of tea I went back to bed to see if I could grab a few hours sleep. I eventually dropped off at around 6:30am to be woken 20 minutes later by another complete ****hole sounding his horn outside someone's house, not even a taxi.

It is gorgeous day out there and I feel tired and grouchy, not even a shower woke me up. Oh well, I have loads to do in the greenhouse (should it rain) and the garden/allotment too, so the day can only get better, can't it?

Hi Chantal - sorry to hear about that, but get to that greenhouse and you'll soon cheer up.

I was in a car accident yesterday afternoon - I was waiting in a queue of traffic and someone ploughed into the back of me, so I got done front & back. Needless to say, I was feeling quite sore & sorry for myself this morning but then my latest order from Seeds of Italy arrived with a pack of seeds for just THE ugliest courgettes you've ever seen! They're so ugly, they're beautiful! Completely distracted me & led to a couple of lovely hours in the greenhouse. Very therapeutic.
Best wishes,
Vivien

If it's any consolation Chantal, I got woken up at 6am this morning....by my son coming home from a party.

By all accounts, it was quite a good one. If he'd been able to focus on the front door when trying to enter the house, we'd probably have slept through it

I know how you feel Chantal.......i'm a fully paid up member of the Grumpy Old Womans Club and proud of it.

This morning, at 4.30am 2 girls coming home started fighting over a man (i mean Jeez, why bother? Where's their sense of pride  ) It went on for around half an hour, screaming and yelling like banshees and dragging each other around by the hair. In the meantime the "man", sho had a face like a pepperoni pizza, stood grinning :? . Then, 3 police cars and the meat wagon turned up with all the sirens blazing and threw the pair of them into the meat wagon.

I hadn't slept for 2 days cos of my bones playing me up, had just nodded off when this started. I settled back and nodded off, only for some ^(*^*^&(&*&(^*^( to start beeping his horn

Pfffftttttttt.........hope his bloody exhaust falls off
Lots of love

Dear Lizzie, it's not unusual for blokes from Bedfordshire to have numerous women fighting over them.

Lizzie, try earplugs and painkillers, I'm using them both tonight from when I get under the duvet.

Vivien, bummer about the car crash, I hope you're OK which by the sound of it is more than can be said for your car. On the plus side, I've got a packet of those amazingly ugly courgette seeds too and I can't wait to see what they grown and taste like.

at least I am presuming these are the same ones as yours Viv.

Sorry about the accident.....so long as you're ok that's all that matters.

Chantal, I have my painkillers and they usually make me a little drowsy. Been on the full wack but still unable to get comfy, turn over etc.

I'm thinking more along the lines of shotgun and a lot of bullets. That should shut the buggers up

I'm thinking of buying this one......

I know that Peter, but who exactly is going to do anything about it? The last time I called the police they said they would get back to me within 48 hours!

I live in a zero tolerance zone so the police do come out. We've only got this set up because our local councillor (a wonderful man)listened to his constituents complaints. My neighbours and I phone the police and, if the poilce get 2 complaints about the same thing, they're out and do their best to sort out the youths. The police can only act if they know of the problem, so we let them know.

We got together as neighbours and agreed a plan of action on what to do if out peace is being disturbed and it works very well. It's also helped to bring the neighbours together. Any troublesome families don't tend to stick around for long. It's a becoming a case now of decent people being in charge.

After all, you can only be intimidated if you allow yourself to be.
Lots of love

Lizzie
