I was nearly feeling not quite so smug over my lovely beds of ciflorette strawbs when I saw that Waitrose will be selling English gariguettes at the end of April. Then I noticed that they are indoor raised (mind you, most supermarket strawbs are now), and that they are an eye-popping £3.99 for 225g (half a pound in old money) :shock:
I think I'd nearly choke on them at that price, no matter how nice they are!

Indeed - I'm just waiting for pea pod burgundy to become de rigeur with the food and drink critics!
