When I counted birds for RSPB garden bird watch at the end of January, I submitted a return of 76 starlings on one power cable across our field. I could not count the hundreds more in the trees across the river.
I now notice there are suddenly none at all. I presume they have all returned to the continent after a winter visit to Wales.
...and there they were - gone!
