Hello to all,
Does anyone know where I can buy a new clutch cable from? mine has just given out, and I'd like to get on while the weather is ok.

Hello Beeman
This is an interesting MT site and does have a few spares such cables and seals for sale:
http://www.merrytiller.co.uk/spares2.htm
I don't know if yours if there.
There is often this sort of stuff on ebay but nothing like this at the moment.
With any luck Clive might see your posting and come with some good ideas.

Hello,
Firstly you will need to know which version of Super Major because the name was used on at least 2 totally different design types of Merry Tiller.
Certainly the name was used on the mid 1970s type and then again on the last design type 1980s to the end of production.
The years go by and MT original spares are doubtless getting thin on the ground but I would still try locally at first... parts can sometimes lurk about still.
Locally, also being in Lincs, my nearest agent would be W. White of Willoughby, Alford. Other long established agents are RH Crawford of Frithville,Boston. Carrs of Boston. Lawnmower Service (LMS) of Wellingore, Lincoln. Fotherby lawnmower centre of Cordeaux Corner, Fotherby, Louth.
The drawings for one type the early 1980s to the end of production Super Major can be found as part of the Major diagrams on; http://merrytiller.dyndns.org/
Richard T' who posts on this forum may be able to help out...especially if this is an older Super Major...he operates www.merrytiller.co.uk in support of of MT owners. and may have further info' on all types.
All the best,
Clive.

Thanks very much for the prompt and helpful replies, hopefully you have both helped get me out of a hole!
It looks as if Merrytiller.co.uk will be my salvation. Thanks again to you both.

Hello beeman2
It is even more complex, as there were four different clutch cables used on Super Majors. I have MT.3982 in stock, this was used in Super Majors to 1978. I have never had the next model Super Major to copy, the model number on the chassis plate for this one is AC 3424. The last model, which has reverse driven off the camshaft, had radnall control levers on early models and the cable for this is no longer available. After radnall’s demise, a lever similar to that on Suffolk Punch mowers was used and the genuine Atco cable is for this is still available from me while stocks last. I have recently started selling bits for the Wizard too, clutch cables, oil seals, rotor pins etc. I got a Wizard parts book but haven’t an Instruction book or a parts book for the late Cadet/B66.
