Someone told me today that i'm easily pleased, i think they meant it a little sarcasticly really.

Anyway it got me thinking, they are right as i get a lot of pleasure out of some of the simplest things in life. I have just been sitting here watching some Blue Tits working they way over a Christmas tree thats in my garden, i take it they are finding themselves something to eat, but it was lovely to watch.

I'm so glad that i'm like this and not constantly seeking bigger and better things in life.

All in all i'm quite content with my life.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Dear OH

How I do agree.... When I was in my thirties it suddenly dawned on me that I have everything I really need. A lovely wife (The Governor) two gorgeous daughters and a modest house that is now paid for...

I have since added four grandchildren who think their Grandfather is wonderful  what more could I wish for... my health isn't too bad albeit I have a few replacement bits and pieces

To sit and muse in the garden on a sunny day is simply heaven and once you have paid the allotment ground rent its FREE!

Dear Weed, that was one of the loveliest and most contented contributions I have read for some time! Long may you enjoy it all!

Doesn't look as though anyone will

A good story about the origin of the tradition:

St. Patrick, having “driven the frogs out of the bogs,” was walking along the shores of Lough Neagh, when he was accosted by St. Bridget in tears, and was told that a mutiny had broken out in the nunnery over which she presided, the ladies claiming the right of “popping the question.” St. Patrick said he would concede them the right every seventh year, when St. Bridget threw her arms round his neck, and exclaimed, “Arrah, Pathrick, jewel, I daurn’t go back to the girls wid such a proposal. Make it one year in four.” St. Patrick replied, “Bridget, acushla, squeeze me that way agin, an’ I’ll give ye leap-year, the longest of the lot.” St. Bridget, upon this, popped the question to St. Patrick himself, who of course, could not marry; so he patched up the difficulty as best he could with a kiss and a silk gown. (Dictionary of Phrase and Fable)

Any ladies need a silk gown (or a kiss)? Go on, ask OH to marry you
