The key is to COOK the tomatoes. That is what releases the lycopene. Drinking tomato juice is also good, and so is tomato sauce.
The other key thing is pomegranate juice, so I've become a convert to that - smashing stuff. Selenium, vitamin E and Green Tea, in capsule or other forms, are other antioxidants recommended. Sue won't let me use the computer until I've had tall these things in the morning.

Good news Mike, a positive attitude as well is esential to beating illness.
Porridge is rich in Selenium and I have just discovered (not that it needed finding) red bush tea, rich in anti-oxidants, as hyrdrating as water and no caffeine or tannine....and it's drinkable and you can have it with milk, not a bad cuppa as it happens

Hi Mark and Kim in France
It sounds wonderful....it really does. I love being on top of the mountains anyway, so does The Grock. I got snowed into a pub once but no-one ever belives me, but I really did.

Yes, Compo, we have some in the house from some time ago. Our problem is we have so many different green teas that we forget the ones we've half used. I'll take your advice and drink it again.
By the way, we don't like camomile tea, but apparently it's the real deal for combatting "damping off".

Hi rooster, I am known as the "weirdo" in the corner down on the alloments as I always like to try something new or push the seasons to the extreme. Sometimes it works other times it does not, but hey thats the point of being the "weirdo" isn't it?
If I can't eat it I don't grow it

Thats the opposite of our allotments pump_king, all of the plot holders are weirdo's, and i'm the sensible one.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

No, i'm odd too......but then, maybe you've all already guessed that
Besides, i'd hate to be normal. When people think that you're strange i've found that I can get away with a hell of a lot, purely because people think i'm being weired

Another one for Mike here.
I don't know how you get on with green tea, but whenI first tried it a few years ago, it seemd quite bitter and unappetising.
It's only later that I discovered that it's best made with water that's quite off the boil and doesn't need to stand for too long. If made with water at 100 C or brewed for any length of time, the bitterness increases.
All the best,
Colin

Dear Lizzie, weired, eccentric, different or just a good old character, these are the people that make life that bit more interesting and fun.
Far better than doing things beause they are in fashion, or that everyone else are doing them.
So glad i'm one of the above, even if it has got me into a little trouble and some funny looks sometimes.
Now where did i put those odd socks.

look out oh you could be trendier than you think, my teenage daughter insists on wearing odd socks, the current excuse is its the only way they can modify the school uniform ( i think she said something like "express their individuality")without getting detention
I also wear odd socks on occasion... its all down to not being able to remember which colour I had just put on the other foot
If that means I am trendy....I can live with that!

I am in my own little world, ...it's OK, ...they know me there!
