Funny thing this morning...

I got a message via the e-group of the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway...saying that they had looked at Google Map and spotted someone had written (mown) the railway initials "LWR" in the grass of their car park...

Now who could have done that :?: :wink:

..anyway... as they wanted more details, date etc..I sent them the serial number and age of the mower that I believe had been used. :wink:

Dear Clive, the thing i like about your story is, it will probably turn out to be one that gets remembered in years to come over a mug of tea.

It will go something like, do you remember when that old boy cut L.W.R in the grass, we couldn't find out who had done it for ages. :)

Hello Old H',
I need to note for future ref to orientate better for the camera......

I had meant it to be read from the train...not from Space or aircraft :shock:

If you scroll North...Peckett No.1749 "Fulstow" is away towards North Thorseby with its train.

...and also I must make sure I go under and not just behind the Leylandii when needed..... :oops:

Are you SURE it wasn't you who took your mower up with a can of white pain onto the South Downs to do the Long Man at Wilmington ??? No, probably not. Don't think you can be that old !

Nice story Clive.

Back in the 1980's I used to commute between Reading and Maidenhead. This was the time of Greenham Common, "protect & survive", When the Wind blows etc.

Some cunning protesters sowed bulbs in the shape of the CND symbol on one of the railway embankments. It made quite a nice display when they flowered - a nice example of non-violent protest!

Having done a quick Google, this seems to have been tried quiet a few times around the country. This is a less spectacular example (the Reading protesters must have been better gardeners!):
