What does allium leaf minor look like,or how does it affect leeks? I have rust marks on my leeks and I'm not sure if that is leaf minor.

Dear Bren, i think that the leeks would be going soft and maybe rotting if it was leaf miner.
So i think it is probably just rust, but i'm not sure so hopefully someone else will be able to put your mind at rest.

Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Hello Bren
Leaf miner damage is very easy to recognise. They are larvae of a moth and feed on the tissue between the leaf surfaces. This creates the distinctive mined silvery trails across the leaf surface.
They are not too much of a nuisance in small numbers as they don't seem to go down into the white part of the plant.
