BACK TO BASICS?

I understand from listening to the wireless this afternoon that the long running programme Gardeners’ Questions is to discuss all the basics involved in gardening. As an occasional listener I am looking forward to this initiative as I am sure the panel’s views on the basics can be both interesting for the newcomer and expert alike.

I am hoping that their views may provoke some healthy debate on this forum since one never stops learning about the enjoyment of gardening.

Good question Geoff, the answer is that I don't know for sure. I was getting in my car this afternoon and when I put the radio on Gardeners' Question time had just finished with the announcement that they were going to concentrate on the basics of gardening. Items such as when and how to prune, organic or conventional etc. will be covered. I can only assume (and hope)that this will be an ongoing feature of the programme.

Perhaps other members can enlighten us with the details?

Just listened to the end of the programme on line and it is going to be a Gardening Fundamentals feature for the next 12 weeks starting this coming Sunday so I think it must be instead of the garden visits for the 12 Winter weeks.

I haven't figured out how to get pod casts onto my mp3 player yet.... anyone got a seven year handy who could explain?

Assuming you are using windows..

If you have a simple mp3 player which acts as a 'removeable disc' when viewed using 'my computer', then you can usually just right click the icon for an item and then select(left click) 'send to removeable disc'. And it does!

Or you can use explorer and drag/drop an item to the 'removeable disc'

If you have a player which uses it's own software interface eg ipod/sony walkman, then I can't help you!

hi shallotman... rough traslation of moles post,...turn on your puter, connect the mp3 player to a usb port , windows then sees the memory in the mp3 player as an external computer drive, windows should open a box on the desktop asking what you want to do with the mp3, one option is use explorer to open files, if you click that it then shows all the files in the mp3 memory,( exactly the same as it would a memory stick or a digital camera) you can then click and drag files from your desktop onto the mp3 or the other way.
if windows doesnt try to open the mp3 when you connect it, go to control panel, then go to my computer and you should find that an extra removable drive is showing, probably called e, f or g, anyway it will be the last one. hope this helps

I wouldn't be without mine. It goes to the lottie and to the gym with me. I also listen whilst cooking, cleaning and sitting on the lav (i forgot I had it on) I have my entire 16 album U2 collection on there, plus some Led Zep, Jethro Tull and a bit of Hendrix.

You can pick them up in the supermarket for around £10-£15 for a basic one which will hold around 200 tracks. They are easy to use and download from your media player. Any new albums I fancy, I order from the library then burn onto media player and sync onto mp3 player.

If you want to be flash, try an ipod or an ipod nano (I will get a nano next). Superb they are.

My advice is get one, you'll never look back.
