Well we had the AGM last night, and what a turnout and a debate, we chose not too change too much, but Beryl you will be very pleased that they decided to scrap the rule on double plots, you can now have a second half plot or full plot for as long as you wish,we put up our rent from 10-15 squid and people decided that they did not want to consitionalise our site nor improve it, keeping the ramshackle sheds and not that bothered about untended plots either....so be it, democracy speaks I guess.

What was interesting was that we did not elect a chair (no one wanted to do it from some 35 or so plot holders) we now have a management committee with no designated leader I shall step down from this in the new year........

What I would like to know is if anyone else has done this due to no volunteer for chair?

Regards

Compo

My Trade Association had a similar problem last year..

They appointed someone from the Board members to chair meetings which is permissable under the Memorandum & Articles
I am in my own little world, ...it's OK, ...they know me there!

Hi Compo, not heard of this situation before but I can understand why? it can be a pretty thankless job. Is your site owned by the Local Council? and do you have a waiting list? the reason I ask is that in this day and age you may need to be careful that they don't think of selling the land off which would raise a good amount of money for them, if you have got a waiting list then it's a shame that they are not bothered about the uncultivated plots, regards Steve.

No waiting list at the moment Steve, although there are a few that want second plots, there is some concern about uncultivated plots but it is not that strong, people have had no contact from the Parish Council or District Council for some years so they think they are not seen, I will post a pic of our field at some point it is a bit of a sight depending on hose plot you are standing on!! Being in a rural area there are rules about building on a) a recreational area and b) the site is on the edge of the village and thus near green belt land, so we should be ok for a while me thinks and hopes!!!
If I am not on the plot, I am not happy.........

The old story Compo no one wants to take the responsibility. It's always the same few that do the work and when they give up that's when the site tends to go into decline.
Hope I'm wrong and yours doesn't.

Best Wishes
Beryl.

We have five chaps that did not want to be chair but said that they would share the responsibility, so I will stand back and wait in the wings hoping they will succeed but I can help if they fall over, one of them however is a bit of a rule breaker, so we will see if he can clean his act up and keep a tidy plot and park his car in the right place!!
