We have just had three days of almost unbroken sunshine and have worked really hard on the allotment. Two large beds are dug and one is sown with grazing rye and phacelia and then covered with netting to keep out the pheasants (the thrid still has the brassicas in it). Tonight we watched the sun go down over Pendle Hill (15 miles away) and then still worked "til black" as he farmers say here. I do love autumn and putting the allotment to bed for winter.

Dear Monika, i have to say it's been quite the opposite down here, it's been overcast, dull and drizzly.

But everything else is glorious, and managed to get a fair bit done over the allotments, it's nice to get things done in anticipation of another year.

And i love all the seasons. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

It's been nice here too....managed to shift some shi.....horse manure this afternoon. Will clear out the greenhouse and sow my lawn tomorrow. I've then got loads of bulbs to plant so I should be kept out of mischief for a while.
Lots of love

You read my mind Herby (not  )

I sowed the lawn seed today....horaaaayyyyyyyyyy

I had just started putting the seed down and it started to rain heavily, so it's saved me a job.

Next is to plant the bulbs.

It's now burning time on the lotties so should have a good fire on Saturday. I've been saving stuff up in anticipation. The usual pyromaniacs were there, twitching manically and lighting their fires.

The rest of the plot should take a couple of weeks and it's then been re-designed from scratch. Will then be ready to sow my perennials in spring together with all the veg.

Ooohhhhh, I love planning new stuff
Lots of love

Hello all,

sorry I haven't written in ages, but today finally got out to the plot to enjoy the glorious weather and wanted to share.

Left Nugget with Dad and planted 100 onions, cleaned up my broad beans, took in some toms, raspberries and carrots for Nugget's birthday cupcakes (yes he'll be one on Wednesday, where has the time gone).

Hope everyone's getting a bit of the Indian summer we certainly need it up here after the rotten summer we've had.

Best wishes all.
Welcome to Finland!!

Dear Malk it is nice to see you back on here, i was wondering where you had got to.
I bet Nugget is into everything now, i can imagine he will love the allotment next year, he will be digging holes everywhere. :)

The weather is a little better than it has been, but i don't know if i would class it as an Indian summer, but i have never been to India so i wouldn't really know.

Good to see you back Malk. You've been missed. Now, does anyone know where Jopsy's got to?
