I have a Welsommer hen who has always given good eggs but has now started to lay eggs with the albumen a milky white colour. When fried the taste is cheesy. Is there a cure for it or is it just old age, I think she might be about 6 yrs old.

Hi, Not heard of this one before, if you are sure the eggs are fresh, could it be something she is eating?

She is a good age for a hen, well done - Goes to Show how good the Pure Breeds are!

Hi RBC yes she is a good age, and a survivor. Her sister dropped down dead 3 years ago and she survived a fox attack which got her brother. She has never mixed very well with the other 4 hens of various mongrell ancesters and is very wary of me and the wife but she lives free range and gets ad lib layers pellets and a fair share of the mixed corn they all get.Just have to put it down as womens problems

Hello Arthur
Don't know the answer to this one I'm afraid. There is a very well-used forum on all things to do with poultry at:

http://kelseyinfo.co.uk/yabb

from the Practical Poultry mag. You might get some help there.

Also there is a very active forum at:

http://www.pekinbantams.com/community/index.php

that you might want to try.
I'd be interested to know what the answer is.
