What's wrong with Wales, I go there about 150 times a year. Try Pembroke, Little England beyond Wales. Monmouth isn't all that bad. I like the veggies there. Harlech may be a different matter.

As I sit at my puter and look out the window I am looking at Pay de Gaulle and the bad weather always comes from there. Apart from Monmouth really being part of England I agree it is certainly more civilised than most of the place.
I probably do more forays into Wales than you but that is nothing to brag about.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with Wales I am only trying to provoke 'The Gock' (as though she really needs it!!) As I go across the border there is a Croesso y Cumru sign but what is all the much better is when you come back and it says Welcome to Herefordshire then I know that I am in Heaven!!

Take no notice, I love Wales. It's my spiritual homeland and the place I fel most at home in. Must be all the Welsh roots in the family.

I hope you and the kids have a great time. And the added bonus is that Joe's will be out ALL day for one of the days at least. You might get 2 days if he's very badly hung over.

The Welsh Princes always gave the English a good beating (think they're still doing that in the rugby). When in England, the Welsh could always rely on the Borderlands to find shelter from the English after scking the farms and beating up kings. A lot of the finest history of England has the Welsh involved (and the Scottish come to that)

A fine race of people the Welsh!!! Mind you, they did give us Max Boyce so they've got to be blames for that.

Oooh Piglet. You are on form today aren't you. I forgot that England won a few weeks ago. Fair enough.

Grock usually goes to this fab, secluded cottage which she loves. Still, she'll enjoy watching the kids enjoying themselves.

I went to Butlins once. I'm not saying that it was bad but, when it was time to leave, a bloke got on the coach and said it was the longest time he'd ever served!!!! I haven't been since.

I'm sure Pontins is different. Grock will let you know. It is catered towards families with smaller kids. It has a better reputation than Butlits anyway.

I like the sound of your usual cottage Grock, as for pontins or Butlins, well we have no children at home so can avoid that one.

Friends have been and say its ideal for families with smaller children and gives them a good time during the day and the adults at night.

Holiday camps, Pontins in particular, may be all right so long as you don't want to eat. The food is disgusting!!

Agree there Valmarg. Bloody disgusting. Still, Grocks self catering so won't have that problem.

My youngest is 10 now so it's not suitable for us. More for little ones.

I'd go back to where we stayed in Scotland last year. Went to Delwhinnie and it was gorgeous. Cottage was great, distillery around the corner within walking distance and loads of walking. Even bagged a munro.

I'd go back in winter or early spring so that I can see the wildlife starting to come out. Might also be some snow left.

Can't comment on Pontins or the like, but this weekend in Shropshire has been cold and wet and foggy. Never got much beyond freezing point. Unusual for this time of the year when we normally get bright sunny days and cold nights.
Good job I can claim another week of the winter lurgy, coughing regularly, looking grey and generally going into a decline. Very unusual for me. Hope to be back at full Tigger strength next week.
