My 'Soft Touch' stone bird bath has a hair-line crack in it. I thought it was only surface but the water seeps away quite quickly. Is there anything I can seal it with?

I guess you could try to convince the birds to sit under the birdbath to get a shower rather than a bath to help save water!!!. OR try a watergarden suppliers for a product called 'pondseal' which you apply with a paintbrush, stone colour or swimming pool blue there may be other colours now as i have not bought any lately.
Good luck.

There is another type of pond repair product which comes in 2 tubes like Araldite. It makes a kind of putty which can be pushed into cracks and spread over the top. It works in wet conditions too. I can't remember it's name offhand, but costs about a fiver. Pond seal is ok, but I find that it tends to peel off again after a few years if not applied perfectly well.

Thanks Guys.
Oh Hortiman - you will be suggesting I put in hot and cold next!!!
I like the idea of the resin bowl - that would smarten it up to but I will look out for the Araldite
which would probably be easier for me to manage.
Thanks again.

Thanks Tel. I've made a note of that.
I haven't got around to doing anything about it yet.
It's still on my list of 'things to do'.
Thanks again.

Hi Beryl, There is a product called"Captain Tolley's creeping crack cure" which is used mainly on boats and is OK for repairing most substances including concrete. You can get it from most boat chandlers and you must be near one in Gosport. It's about £4.95 for a 60 ml. bottle. If you do use it I suggest you put a piece of tape on the underside of bird bath while doing repair to stop it running through the crack before it sets. If you want more info the product has it's own web site or go to "force4.co.uk"

Thanks Gerry. I have repaired it for now but if I have any more problems I will keep your advice in mind.
