Helped next door harvest their Victoria Plum crop today. The earliest they have ever been ready before is mid August and that was last year in the drought.
Gave some to another neighbour and he gave us ripe pears in return
Anyone else finding their fruit trees cropping early this year
Yes, my plum seems early too, though it's a young tree and my memory isn't too good!
It's Oullin's Golden Gage and it's the heaviest crop we've ever had. I made a special effort to help pollination and kept it watered through the dry April and my efforts seems to have paid off. The taste is a little watery though, I have to say.

Hi Sue,
My Victoria's, Greengages and two unknown but wonderful tasting varieties are all fairing very badly.
They are rotting on the plant and are nowhere near harvesting. I have my doubts that there will be many left to pick when they ripen.

If it makes you feel better Johnboy & Tigger, all my cordon apples bar one are totally devoid of fruit. What little they was committed hari kari in the June drop Oddly, the one remaining tree with fruit has loads on it
