One of the sunflowers in the veg patch is romping ahead of all the others. At the moment it is 2.26m, I know it's still a baby compared to some sunflowers that are grown. But I'm laying down the gauntlet. Can anyone beat it. Mine hasn't flowered yet so it still has time to get bigger,
Who's got the tallest one out there?
Helix
The tallest on-line sunflower

Am afraid my tallest one is only just under six feet but in full flower. (sorry but I don't do metric measurements - I'm an old fashioned feet/inches & pounds/ounces person !!) I have about half a dozen - all self sown from seeds which have been blown off the bird table in heavy winds and germinated in the flower border. I can't even visualise how tall 2.26 metres looks like !

Glad to see there's another "feet and inches" person around. Was beginning to wonder whether I was almost an extinct creature in the way I measure. What are all you others?

Dear helixdesign, mine is only about 2 metres tall at the moment, that is six foot six by the way Primrose.
And you are not the only one left to use imperial.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

ive got several in the veg patch which are over head height, (sorry lost my measuring stick) they are all self sown and are multiple headed. the one in the onions has got upwards of 50 heads on, some are now past it others are only at the bud stage. there are even some in the tunnel, which may have come in with the compost, but it may be that the ones i grew outside last year and left for the birds have been scattered either by birds or mice. if memory serves me right it was a packet of mixed varieties which did have some multiheaded ones but they didnt have so many last year, perhaps its the difference in the weather?
my sunflowers that I grew for cutting (mixed) are not even 2 foot of the ground yet, I dont know what has happened with them, last year i had enough for all the teachers to get a big bunch on the last day of term and this year i have nothing at all, 3 gladioli and a few straggly cosmos
My daughter brought a sunflower home from sunday school a while back, but even thats only about 4 foot.
