Is it worth re-starting Tomatoes now?

As many others have found, my outdoors tomatoes have all got blight and I'm ditching them. So far, greenhouse ones are ok.

At this late stage of the "summer", is it worth trying more toms outdoors now? I'm sceptical because of insufficent time to get big enogh, but also wonder if the blight spores will just be circulating freely from now on and nuke the next lot

I started some late a couple of years ago and they just didn't get big enough to bear any real fruit. These were in my greenhouse too, so I wouldn't bother trying outside.

I have a second crop about to go into my tunnels. They'll give me fruit up until Christmas - at least - I hope, but I don't think there's much point in trying outside varieties unless we're going to get a baking hot September and October. Always a possibility, I suppose.

In a completely different thread (forum?) someone suggested rooting sideshoots at this time of year for a quicker crop - perhaps you know someone who can help with some?

Thanks KC - I remember this now you mention it. I should have some from my greehouse plants, so I'll give it a go!
