This is just a cute story. My neighbours found a young female hedgehog who seemed to be very poorly with a closed eye and swollen face. Amazingly the vet diagnosed and treated a tooth abcess, removing the tooth, cleaning the abcess and giving the little hedgehog a tiny dose of anti-biotics. She's now doing well and eating heartily.

How nice that a vet would treat a wild animal so tenderly. If money isn't involved, some of them probably wouldn't want to know. But perhaps your neighbours paid for the treatment, in which case they are to be applauded for their kindness.

Apprently hedgehogs always get free treatment, perhaps some charity picks up the tab? (It helped that the vet was a mate too of course!)

If I disguise myself with loads of broom heads could i get my raging toothache sorted out? I can't find an NHS dentist and as my business is failing thanks to the floods I certainly can't afford to go private.

Epilogue...
Miss Tiggy made a full recovery after three weeks in my friend's bathroom during which time she doubled her body weight by scoffing loads of mashed Felix. She now has an absurdly expensive deluxe Hedgehog house in the garden where adjacently (lovingly)placed saucers of mashed Felix attract scores of slugs, so you could say she's back on a mixed diet

What a happy end to the story. I just hope Miss Tiggy didn't leave a mass of fleas on your friend's bathroom carpet. Hedgehogs are normally covered with them.

The vet obliginly de-flea'd and de-ticked her first. We're waiting for her to find a boyfriend now!
