Well its general chatter, open to all subjects.
Ive just re watched the Andrew Marr interveiw with Gordon Brown on the BBC website and how refreshing it was to hear a strong clear minded man of principle speak. Why have we been denied this for the last 10 years?
I believe this is a good man with the strength of his convictions.
He did not waver, this is a good, strong man, focused on basic standards

YES Why have we been denied this for the last 10 years?

As second in command he could have done more in the last ten years to impliment all these ideas instead of disappearing every time something contraversial cropped up,
AND DONT FORGET HOW MANY PEOPLES OLD AGE HE HAS STOLEN BY ROBBING THEIR PENSION FUNDS

How on earth can you enjoy anyone who gives a 10 minute answer to a simple question, without answering?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this the same man who has given buisiness men tax priveleges and who pay less tax than their cleaner, while taxing older people up to 40% on their commuted pensions?
Is this the man who extoles Britishness, and who was part of the "NEW LABOUR" outfit that has robbed us of our Britishness? We are no longer a country that can exersise it's sense of humour, without being called racist or homophobic or any other tag the liberal left puts on us. We have been robbed of our freedom of speech. Or is this one of the government that refused to reinstate pensions to people who worked for firms like BWS, and lost the lot because the firms went into liquidation, but acted upon government advice as to where their contributions were to go, but made sure that their own pensions were lined with gold!
I could go on, but I'm afraid I would be done for something or other, which is in one of the hundreds of new laws that this government has put appon us, with him as number two!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's no use Gordon Brown making a big play about bolstering the British constitution and restoring democratic rights to Parliament if he's going to ignore the two vital issues of offering the British people a Referendum on the EU Treaty, and dealing with the ability of Scottish MP's to vote on matters affecting the English population.
When he deals with these two I'll take him at his word. Until then I'm afraid it's just a case of "Same meat, different gravy".

"the ability of Scottish MP's to vote on matters affecting the English population"

Oh, come on :!:

What about the ability of English MP's to vote on matters affecting the Scottish and Welsh and Northern Irish populations. We live in the UK - 4 nations - not in England.

I'm sorry but Marr has been on TV often.. it's your fault if you don't watch his shows..

You can't mean Gordon Brown as he has been complicit in all major decisions in the past 11 years...

"dealing with the ability of Scottish MP's to vote on matters affecting the English population. "

I'm sorry but the reply can best be described as "evading the question".

G Brown as MP for wherever in Soctland can vote to close every hospital in ENGLAND now. NO MP representing England can vote about any Scottish NHS matter - full stop.
G Brown can vote to close every school in ENGLAND NOW.NO MP representing England can vote about any Scottish education matter - full stop.

But hey that's tribalism and party politics... the Conservatives when in power were just as bad...

Well, whether we're English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish, we're all British citizens and I still think we're entitled to our EU Treaty Referendum. Anybody else thinking likewise can sign the Downing Street peition here.

Alan, Bernard Manning was extreme, I admit. However, why did Engineer, Conti all BLACK sportsmen who knew that in no way was he racist, ask him to entertain the members of their retirement bashes? All were treated alike, with him, whether black white Welsh English or Scottish.
However, I'm not talking about extremism, I'm talking about the old Engish, Scotts, Welshmen type jokes. I wish I had a pound for every time I was called a Welsh so and so, without taking offence, because I knew it was not maliciously meant. Now, however, all you need is for some one like the red haired presenter, (whose name escapes me) to make a comment, and all hell breaks loose. Why; because some biggoted prat thinks that it is racist! Even your hard earned money in North Wales was used to try and prosecute! What a load of crap.
I also made comment on free speech, or lack of it. I'm afraid that the lunatics (leftist liberals) are now running the asylum.

Whatever else you call the Blair/Brown New Labour set, they are neither leftist nor liberal.

And we'll see what Rhodri/Ieuan will do for Wales

Brown has been holding the purse strings for a long time so has ultimatly been responsible for a lot of whats been allowed to happen in the last 10 years, he aint going to change now.
lets face it 99 % of us wont change our minds on political issues whatever dubious arguments are posted here. :D

Sorry Alan but I must take issue here.

Wales, has its own parliament.
Scotland, has its own parliament.
Northern Ireland, has its own parliament.
England, has the westminster parliament containing members from the other three constituent nations comprising the UK.

So that nice Mr Brown from Kirkcaldy can NOT vote on Scottish Health Service issues, such as whether anit-altzhiemer drugs should be available to residents of Kirkcaldy, but guess what, he CAN vote on whether residents of Hertfordshire can get said drugs.

The whole devolution thing has been very badly handled, all that was ever needed was to have equality for all four nations.

Four junior parliaments, that combined for a UK parliament. Set the representation level at x potential voters per MP and off we go. Too simple I guess.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

Bit unfair to blame all the troubles of the UK on some stock flavouring!
