Just snapped OH arriving in Wales. He said he'd be hang gliding - he wasn't joking :!:

Not bad for leaving Bedfordshire at 5.30 this morning :!:

I present photo evidence of professional trackers combing the hills for signs of Old H'..
Image

..then just when all hope of a sighting was fading...some gardening gloves where found on a fence..
Image

..careful tracking has lead to the holiday accomodation which just like the brochure description said has good open views...
Image

The gardens have left a bit to be desired but in the distance OH was spotted rebuilding a wall...
Image

Ever resourceful and of course with roots in the building trade..by lunchtime he was making inroads with the accomodation....although not realising that he would have building work to accomplish he had not packed his spirit level so the chimney stacks were a problem...
Image

with a roof over his head for tonight...work could start on the gardens...
Image

The improvement speaks for iteslf..
Image
Image

Just the lawns to sort and it will be supper time and the whole of the rest of the week available for other pursuits...
Image
I am pleased to see he checked the oil in the BSA sloper before mowing but now he has wiped the oil dipstick on his t shirt what will he wear for the rest of the week.

With apologies to the holiday accomodation owners and gardeners of Wales..

That was just on the journey there....

I am sorry but I am unable to post further updates on his whereabouts...

I found a vantage spot above Barmouth...I thought that I could perhaps get in some classic train spotting shots as well as Old H' tracking...

...but I fell asleep...

...when I awoke...I found that I had company and I am now detained..

Ever an early riser, OH has begged for access to the hotel's computer - a cutting edge model which runs on coal and sheep droppings. He is reportedly desperate to hear what we are saying about him in his absence.

Image

However, all is not well with this Cambrian computer.

Image

As repairs are attempted, OH tucks into the Full Welsh.

Image

He is able to eat all this because he hasn't read Peter's latest medical update.

First real breakfast in days :!:

Not sure what his plans are for the day, but any sightings will be welcome.

This tallies with having packed only one t shirt...and now it is in the wash...

But what is in those backpacks... :?:

The locals have realised what it may be...and are not amused. :?
Image

..but as is the custom...the folk back home had told him to bring back some Welsh rock...

Fortunately Old H' was able to prove his innocence as it soon became clear that the backpacks actually contained a gift for the Ty Mawr Allotment Society...

Wood chip for the paths around their new raised bed project...and they were pleased to accept the gift..
Image

The newly leveled area with the raised beds..

Image

There is excitement amongst the allotment holders as Old H points out that the top soil is excellent and far better than his heavy clay...with a little light raking a fine tilth can soon be obtained for him to put in a row of late Parsnips..
Image

Old H' also realises that having rembled a few stones..he will be able to sort Geraints wall and clear up the earlier misunderstanding of the Welsh rock.....

No big breakfast for OH today. Up Snowdon to see the sunrise.

Image

Keep an eye open for him, Clive.

Latest update

Taking pity on him some members of the local Old Herbaceous Fan Club have got his lunch ready.

I can't wait to see what he does on Tuesday!

BTW the Mountain Railway on Snowden is disgracefully expensive. We went a couple of years ago and it was extortionate and furist(see below).

Alan, a question from my dog, "why are so many Welsh Tourist attractions Furist?"
She is allowed up the battlements of Carisbrooke Castle IOW, but not even in the grounds of any Welsh Castle.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

Peter

What will he get up to on Tuesday?

Well you'll just have to wait and see, isn't it?

Why are Welsh attractions furist (took me a while to figure that one out, I can tell you)?

Actually dogs are allowed in, but only if you know the plural of CORGI. No, it's not corgis :!:

Watch this space.
