I'm off to the Welsh botanical gardens again tomorrow. There is a plant there called the PUYA, which comes from the Andies, and grows to an enormous size.
The one in the gardens is a baby at 7ft tall, but it has flowered this year for the first time. Hopefully I will be able to take a photograph and post it here.
It should be the highlight of our visit, although the gardens are always good to see.

We thought it was great when we visited a few years ago although it obviously needed more funding. I think it has secured it's future now so it should be even better. The walled garden, the serpentine stream and it's borders and the slate mulched beds were our favourites. Much superior to the over publicised restored garden a few miles away whose name escapes me.
When we were there Farmyard Nurseries were running the plant sales so we sought out the actual nursery, well worth a visit, just got a Chelsea Gold at first attempt. We fell in love with Iris Ensata on that trip, bought a collection at FN and they are full of buds at the moment.

Excellent day out. Not much of a photographer I'm afraid. Once again the press sensationalised an average occorrence! The plant was a disapointment, but the rest of the visit was excellent.
OK I give in. How on earth do I put photographs on here?
