You've heard of my trouble with my Bokashi lid. I phoned the help line of recycle now, and explained. They contacted the supplier, who rang me and asked what they could do for me. Anyway, they said they would send out two new bins, and collect the old ones. Now that's what I call customer service! However, I wrestled for a couple of hours over the weekend, and discovered the method for replaceing the lids. Rang them yesterday, and explained, cancelled the new bins, and was treated so well. I'll certainly recommend Recycle now to anyone.

It's so rare these days. I bought a set of blocks for Nugget and the paint started chipping off them right away, so I contacted the manufacturer. They sent me two new sets (one painted, one plain). And asked for my and Nugget's opinion on the new paint (the batch I had was old and inferior).

Great service. But I now have three sets of blocks.

It definitely pays to complain.

Can recommend Wilkinsons for customer service. I've bought a temporary, walk in greenhouse each year for the last 3 years, but this year the plastic cover fell apart after 5 days. One polite e-mail and a replacement and a personal covering letter arrived next day! I like their gardening stuff- cheap and functional mostly, but does the job and much cheaper than the garden centre at the end of my road. Their cloches for £5 are great- I've re-used the components around the plot and greenhouse and still expect to be able to use them as cloches next spring

I used to always insist we answered phones promptly (2 rings) and always replied pomptly to customer complaints and letters. We would often settle minor complaints by giving free new product without quibble.

The costs involved were minsicule but the reputation for customer service - and subsequent goodwill/word of mouth advertising and repeat busines - was substantial.

A no brainer.

Unfortunately it still appears (altho things have generally got much better imo over the past 20 years) that some businesses don't see it like that and treat their customers with disdain. They get no repeat business from me!

I always try to speak to a company before I buy from there website. (just in case!) I wanted to buy a Superspray Hose End Sprayer for feeding my plants and to wash my greenhouse. The guy who answered was called John and was really pleasent and informal and was interested to know what I intended to use it for and how Id come across his product, I received my sprayer by mail the next day and he'd filled it with 300ml of plant food! foc. Good manners and a pleasent disposition cost nothing but seems quite rare these days.
