You thought I'd got the wrong section didn't you? No my lawnmowers are 5 North Ronaldsay sheep and they've just started on a paddock of about 3/4 of an acre. They're small primitive sheep of all different colours, some with horns and some without. On North Ronaldsay they're kept on the beach and off the island by a dyke and they eat seaweed. Fortunately they also eat grass and are very hardy. My 4 ewes are in lamb for April and I have a tup lamb with quite extraordinary curly horns already.

I sure did! And I'm mad with envy. We have 3/4 acre too, which used to have sheep. Now I have enough with 65 hens and ducks. They also keep the grass down though.
Of course being in NW Wales we are surrounded by other people's sheep. I wish you the best of luck with the lambing.

Two ewes lambed 6 weeks ago - little black ram lamb each. Then a week ago the third ewe lambed - had a beautiful little ewe lamb - a grey/ white/ brown mixture - just as my back was turned. Then she had a chocolate coloured ram lamb later. They are so pretty - a bit like kids rather than lambs.Unfortunately our oldest ewe had 2 dead lambs after that. I think we were fortunate she lambed them because it's not possible to help as with commercial sheep, and she was in an awful state afterwards - better now.
