I am growing some celery that is 'self blanching' - does this mean that i just leave it to grow once planted and don't need to place collars around it?

Dear Graham, no you don't need to place collars round them.
But you do need to keep them well fed and well watered, or they will be very stringy.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
