It's been tipping it down here over the last few days. Really heavy rain. The river in the park is flowing so fast poor Chiefie can't go for his daily dip to play Pooh Sticks. There are loads of muddy puddles around for him to make up for it though. 
The bindweed is pushing itself up again so the weedkiller spray has come out again. Today has been much better with just a light shower this morning. The lottie looks so much better for it and my clay is now back to its normal sticky self.

We are now well above the average rainfall for May already, and it still looks very unsettled for the next five days.
I think everything i planted out four weeks ago is starting to get a bit fed up with it, they are just sitting there now and not putting on much growth.
Just noticed this morning all the Ash trees still haven't come into leaf, they are just breaking bud.
The Oaks have been in full leaf for about five weeks now, thats the biggest difference iv'e known for a long while.
Are everyones Ash trees slow to come into leaf this year.

No idea why "the Oak before the Ash we'll only get a splash" but the same difference here - perhaps we are in for a drought.
I always think the Ash must be a very efficient tree, grows really well but last into leaf and goes back to sleep at the slightest frost.

Our Oak (sessile) were in leaf on 14 April, our Ash on 2 May. Does anyone remember the last time they saw the Ash before the Oak. I don't.

Our oaks are well in leaf but the ash trees are almost completely bare still, from the distance they look like dead trees. I must admit I have never noticed such a lengthy difference in them breaking into leaf.

A good question Alan, do you know i can't remember the last time the Ash was out before the Oak, it has happened, but must be at least ten years ago.
I'm inclined to think it has more to do with how hard a winter we have had.
