I cannot be the only one who has noticed the amount of impolite and immoderate language, sometimes verging on personal abuse, which occasionally crops up. More often than not this is in any context where the word Organic is mentioned.

I name no names and quote no quotes, but if the cap fits...

I think there are a number of issues here:

1 It is as unpleasant to read as it would be to listen to.

2 It may well put off more recent members from contributing their views for fear of ridicule.

3 It might just be that if you cannot put across your views in a rational, moderate and polite fashion, most of us might think those views are not worth consideration.

As i've been on the forum for a while, i must say i find it quite amusing, i often sit here and wonder whats coming next.

But i do agree with Alan, that it must seem a bit heavy for any new members, or for the kindest people on the forum for that matter.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I belong to a number of Forums which deal with different subjects - work stuff, living in France and gardening in the main - and I can assure you that compared to some, this Forum is seriously sweetness and light.

Want REAL abuse, look at ........

Perhaps not!

I agree entirelly Alan. I hate bad manners and rudeness. I have been on several forums (ii?) and have never ever stuck to them for that reason. This is the most informative and usually kind forum I have been on, and so may it continue! We might not always agree, but disagreements are dealt with in a civilised manner.

Hmm I think ignorance and lack of self aware ness lead to the rude manners and impoliteness, it does not happen very often on here but when it does it sticks out like sore thumb. I guess we are a tolerant bunch on the whole..............

Thanks Peter, and there is a thought eh?

What would folk do if they were put in charge of the nation?

I think I would send everyone on a manners course, get the police to cut down on the following by having special constables who focus on the following.

Litter
Spitting and swearing in public
Being pregnant and dressing discgracefully (crop top with exposed bump!!)
General chaviness
Not having an allotment.
Growing a mattress in your front garden.
Serving in a shop whilst having a conversation with person on next checkout

Now there are just a few...........I bet we get dozens if not hundreds of suggestions!! What do you say Peter (Deputy PM or Chancellor your choice!!)

El Presidente, Senore, if it please you I will graciously fulfil the role of Senior Minister. I do not want the title of Prime Minister as that would associate your excellency with the lickspittle Blair.

also if it please your excellency the only major new law I wish you to pass is:

That anyone not doing their job correctly gets put in the stocks in front of their workplace for a whole day, if they work on the internet it is to be placed on a webcam.

A minor amendment is that anyone convicted of three or more serious crimes should be prevented from having any (more) children.

Not likely cherrycoop, imagine the level of insults I'd get for suggesting that some users there are bad mannered.

Old , mainly women, who because they are old (but not infirm) think we are there for their convenience, and push in front of queues, and generaly behave badly, sometimes far worse than the much maligned young people! Then plead age when they are told (politely) to back off. I can say that because I am, to paraphrase a song, not young anymore!

Sorry to have to say this, Submariner, but I think its a Welsh thing.
Would you like to have to stand in a queue with Miss C Church - and she's still sort of young!
