Hello everyone, what another lovely day it is!
Does anyone know whether onions enjoy a dash of potash, as I know that garlic does. I have a little left over, so can I sprinkle it around the onions too?
Thanks,
Emma.

It's my understanding that they do and my onions and shallots have a good helping. 8)

Dear Emma, i think i would leave putting it round your onions, until they start forming bulbs, to get the most from your potash.

Hello Emma
Go with OH on this one. You need to encourage leaf growth at this stage of the onion's life - use a high N feed. Once bulbing has started after the longest day then you need to change to a high K type feed.

Why, thankyou Chantal, OH and John, exactly what I was hoping to hear! There will be plenty to go round by then, as Dad will have had several bonfires by then......
