I had my son's class on the allotment last week. They had a great time looking around, finding bugs and dead mouse!!!
Trust them 1 dead mouse andthey find it. A few YUK it's muddy! and No a worm! from some girls.
They had fun anyway, they are back after Easter. Should be more interested and God knows they need a few more trips. Could not make a difference between leeks and carrots!!!

My niece comes on to my plot and adopts every bug she can find. She takes home jars of caterpillars, woodlice, bugs, the lot, and every one is given a name. My poor sister is VERY long suffering. Last year however, Anna planted her own gladioli bulbs so I have every intention of educating her when she's a bit older (5 at present. I do admire your strong nerves allowing a whole bunch of kids on your plot.

Dear Amo, i think it is such a good idea to have the children to see the workings of an allotments.
I really am glad that schools are finally getting round to the idea, that chidren not only enjoy, but also learn a lot from gardening.
I must say that it really is good of you to have the children on your allotment Amo.

Glad to here this. My partner teaches in a nursery school and all 60 visited a year or so ago - made maps (mainly for the adults) and made sure there were things to touch, see, feel and taste. Great success. It would be good if allotment holders everywhere let their Council know that they are up for school visits.

They were very good, walk where they were suppose to, etc...
They are coming back after Easter, more things to look at.
It was a first here in Ashford and when I visited the allotment shop the week after, they all heard about it!
I am really looking forward to the next visit.
