Well, around Skipton in the Yorkshire Dales we had a very light sprinkling of snow and sleet around noon, but it's mostly disappeared and been replaced by another night of hard frost, no doubt. But the last week has been absolutely gorgeously sunny and clear. That should get rid of a few bugs (and a few plants as well, I would think).
It's amazing how little snow can close schools, airports, offices and cause road chaos! How did we cope in the past? I remember my children struggling 2 miles to school in wellies in the 1970s with blizzards blowing. But they survived!

I remember getting to school in all weathers too. They don't breed them tough enough these days

OH, that's actually the Regent Restaurant which is the Chinese that Tim and I frequent However, the Midas Lounge next door was, until recently, a (male only) lap dancing club! I was trying to work out how you knew...

It's still snowing here and it's freezing too now. I can hardly wait to try and skate to work tomorrow.

Been snowing here most of the day but very little of it has settled. Freezing cold though so it'll be like an ice rink tomorrow. I'll have to be careful cos it was this time last year that I dislocated my shoulder, going arse over end on black ice.

Still, went out to meet old friends for lunch today and had a fab time. It's great to see old fiends and Nasty Habits still has some nasty habits, but I still lover her...

Typical for round here,Doncaster, we have had flurries of snow but it hasnt settled.Bought two red sledges for the kids years ago and not had the chance to use them yet.Looks like they may become museum pieces soon.

Friday 6.00 am Hereford
It has stayed just above 0 C. all last night in spite of the forecast so maybe we will thaw out today.
People keep on about what it was like last time we had significant snow. They don't seem to realise that there are a lot of people about who lived through 1962 when it did not thaw out for a month.

I thought that was 1963 Allan, I do remember it, just. I used to live at Draycote Water, at the sailing club and my mum and I were once snowed in for over a fortnight. Some people came to the club, on skis, but that was it. Roads blocked, the reservoir was frozen (for 3 months!) and no way in or out. It was all quite exciting, especially when our oil tank froze and we had no heating.

OH, be grateful, be very grateful.

We were allowed to wear thick black tights to school instead of socks! And the uniform stayed that way in following years even though it was warmer. We were all terribly pleased.

i got a telling off from the headmistress for wearing long trousers to school, afterall it was only a two mile bike ride and her rules said boys must wear shorts.
