Hi

I was intruiged by the very rapid govenment statement that we may never know the cause - I take that to mean we won't be told and therefore will never know. Too many commercial and political interests are at work here for me to feel easy. I still wonder why there was so much media sensationalism when an isolated dead swan turned up in Scotland last year but so much restraint when thousands of turkeys are killed at a BM factory near Halesworth. (The local MP is Selwyn Gummer who is remembered mostly for feeding his kids a burger on TV to prove BSE was not a problem)

Thinking of Halesworth there is a fantastic nursery nearby - Wootens - which does an amazing range of perennial plants. Go there or visit their web site.

Bernard Matthews bird flu may well originate in Hungary (say the media today).
Thank goodness the wild birds are innocent.
You may have read it here first - see my previous posts.
Perhaps now less people will eat processed sh***e, thanks to the media scare-mongering (justified for once).

If you think my comment unfair, here's an interesting article I picked up un the "Practical Poultry" forum -

Looks like this Bernard Matthews situation is getting worse by the minute, i didn't relize that they imported so much poultry from so many different countries to process, what have we been feeding all our school children with.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

if the birds are grown abroad and then processed in uk are then then in the supermarkets as produced in britain? it must surely be cheaper for bm to do the processing where ever the birds are produced.

Now's a great time to buy turkey! Provided you cook it properly, you're not going to catch anything!
