Rosie's the glamorous one round here and doesn't she just know it. She's far more of a princess than Kylie and can do it with no clothes at all.
Seems like the bird flu is taking a back seat tonight too as the "friendly" fire thing is big news. I'd be happy if I never heard the phrase "bird flu" again. Here's hoping.

The media has been surprisingy restrained (by media standards) over the whole bird flu story. I keep hens and need to know how this happened in Sufffolk.
It's not just migratory birds that can find their way into the Holton factory - what oher connections might there be in the glodal world of poultry manufacture?
The story also let us know that most of the workers in the factory are immigrants who are housed in battery hostels in places like Felixtowe and Lowestoft, paid the minimum wage (less hostel and clothing costs, probably denied union representation) and who are in no position to refuse to do the potentially dangerous job of killing 159,00 turkeys which might have the deadly virus.
I have never bought Bernard's stuff because it has always been bad news for poultry. Now it is clear that this factory farming is also bad news for the people they employ - people like you and me.

BBC news team last night were acting as vigilantes in a very smug manner when they found an old girl had her hens ranging free near the site. Called out environmental health etc.
All seems very pointless, when they were tipping industrial bins(?) or dead birds into open topped atriculated tipper lorries. Yes, they may have cover sheets, but it hardly seems suitable to contain this virus?
Scenario.
A bird IS infected.
Killed.
Body fluids conatminate: killing crate/bin, lorry body, lorry cover sheet.
Lorry parked overnight, wild bird pecks up scraps or pecks at cover sheet......
Very reassuring, NOT.

What I cant understand is why they transported the dead birds 200 miles before burning the carcasses? I may not be the brightest person on the planet but this would seem to increase the risk of the virus spreading.Surely containing the birds and people to one area until it was "cleared would be a better idea.

Hmm, there was a bit of a scare in the middle of the night. I was up at 4am and the BBC announced one of the Government vets was in hospital with suspected bird flu. By 8am it turned out to be suspected man flu as they could find nothing wrong with him.
