Congratulations Manchester in winning the bid for a Super Casino, I’m sure it is just what you need and should help solve a number of social problems. The Government should rightly feel very pleased with themselves, I am sure the Labour Party’s founding fathers from both the trade unions and Methodist churches would be proud of you.
Yea, I bet they are!

And there's 24 hour boozing now, Barney. Ain't life just great under TB. I'm off downtown now to buy myself a peerage if I can get past the hoodies and asbo kids!

As contributors will appreciate I always try to be rational with my descriptions. After visiting a relative I had the pleasure of walking the high street of a local town following a weekend of responsible drinking habits that TB’s 24 hour pub opening was to encourage.
What then was this tsunami of vomit flowing from each shop doorway?
I did not realise that this was to be a feature of the new continental drinking habits.

I feel tis a product of Sad British Yob Culture, we are probably old fashioned nerds for criticising such behaviour and indulging in something that we can be proud of, our vomitting victors and victorias are proud of their weekend of pavement pizza making, that is sadly the norm for many of our local towns at the weekend. Notwithstanding the usual solutions where folk say 'bring back the birch' what do folk on here think is the answer to the yob culture that is permeating Britain right now, or in fact what is the cause.
I will keep my views for later on.

Yes, it was perhaps a little simplistic of the Government to think that we would all turn into responsible, moderate Mediterranean drinkers if they opened the pubs for the same length of time as on the Continent.
I like that phrase 'tsunami of vomit'. It's so evocative!
Seriously though, I was living in Melbourne when they opened the casino there. I heard (not on the news of course) that there were suicide victims dragged from the toilets on a weekly basis.

i'm a manc too
interestingly the news seemed to have bypassed my parents who still live there!
i really do think it may just cause more people to become gamblers which is a v bad thing
i cannot bear those dreadful machines that eat your cash i really can't see the point
i've never visited a real casino and it's not on the list one of the things i wish to do before i'm 40!

The lottery once a week is ok, but Casino's? You really have to be prepared to watch money run through your fingers, like spilled paint, you can never get it back.

I am a 39 Year old bloke, I was a lot wilder in my youth than I am now (well slightly), I could be a bit of a bad lad at times, some things I've done I'm not too proud of.
That is the point, I think, some, and not all, of the youth today have no pride, no respect and no dreams for the future.
When I see my 9yr old son and 13yr old daughter up at our lottie, eating spinach instead of sweets, and working with my wife and myself I feel so proud of them.
I know they will disappoint us eventually, in some small way, but we will sort that when it happens, my wife, my ex (the kids mother) and me all get on so well together, and the kids know they have 3 parents to answer to! coming from a 'broken home' is no excuse.

Many moons ago I put 6d for two pulls into a machine and pulled the handle and got 5 shillings but on the second pull I got nothing and I thought bugger that and have never ever put another coin into a gambling machine so as inflation eats into my winnings I am 4s 6d up on these infernal machines.
I am totally disgusted with the whole gambling drinking debacle.

I bought a lottery ticket once - I didn't get anything back
But there again it could have been worse - didn't the govt want 40 super-casinos?
