Recently the moderators have seen fit to lock threads that have questioned the “authorities” attitude to crime and punishment whilst Global Warming is freely discussed. Just for the record out of the two items I fear the total breakdown of our law and order to be far more dangerous than the effects of global warming.

However things may be getting better in that criminals are being punished appropriately if the report in Saturday’s Daily Telegraph is to be believed.

In essence a 12 year old girl has been “fined” £50 for not recycling a cardboard box properly.

I am happy to name and shame this hooligan, but won’t, I fear reprisals.

This shameful wicked girl and her mother had the audacity to travel from their home to use the Kent recycling point. The box in question with her name on it had spilled out of a bin at the recycling point. The council letter warned the shameful girl that she faced a £50,000 fine or jail term, but she was “let off” with a £50 fine, (the namby pamby softies).

Obviously had the prisons not been full she would have rightfully been jailed for her crime.

It is heartening to be reassured that our authorities have got their priorities in order.

Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime – what a farce!

My wife got a £50 fine and penalty points for not stopping at the right white line at a famous roundabout in Gloucester one night, no other traffic around, each entry has 2 white lines, she was caught on camera in the shameful act. A very handy way of boosting the police budget

Dante, would I be unfair to suggest that even your total of 4 considered contributions so far lack any significant horticultural content?

All the best
