moan,moan moan.cant wait to start sowing some seeds,im fed up with the wether and my green house roof is starting to cave in and i cant do sod all about it as the wind would blow me away if i even tryed.did spend a few bob in wilkinsons on seeds today though and that made me feel better .anyone else itching to get going?

Evening my dear Grock, glad to see youv'e got rid of that hang-over.
Just to cheer you up Grock, i've been busy in my solid greenhouse today, been forcing a lot of bulbs, so been bringing them into the greenhouse, also been sowing a few seeds.

Think i will be sowing extra garlic this year, as it seems to be selling well the last few days, i've been told i've got to cut down on eating it.

Cheer up Grock something nice might happen one day, just like it did to me today, went on K.G and you were on there.

I've sown a few more onions today, along with some carrots and a selection of herbs. Three propogators on the go in my unheated tunnels. Inner sanctum of one tunnel set to trigger heater if there's a frost.

oh god its awful,everyones started sowing in their SOLID greenhouses and mines knacked,cant even sit in it and listern to the rain incase i end up like the bloke from ghost but o.h did manage to put a smile on me face....thankyou

thankyou hun but joe is gonna fix the roof for me when the weather gets better,hes even gonna pay for all the stuff,although he dosnt know yet,it will be my b.day present,a lot better than the rubbish he usually gets me.

Grockie-baby, it could be worse, at least you have the prospect of a nice solid greenhouse.
Will it be heated at all?
Will it have an "inner sanctum" or not?
Will it have an easy chair?

My greenhouse, though (fingers-crossed) fairly solid is un-heated so I daren't start anything on the go in it yet as they'll be an invite to Jack to appear, Jack Frost that is. I'm reading "The Small Greenhouse" by H Witham Fogg at the moment, advises use of white lead paint so not the worlds most up to date book.

I should order some seeds soon, I've been putting it off 'cos the ground is so bad as having the seeds to hand would make me feel worse about it.

Watching the rugby this afternoon (we lost) looked up when the ball was in the air and the angle was just right on the wind, so the clouds where whipping by so quick straight over me and looking slower off to each side of me, it was like a special effect from a sci-fi movie. Magnificent, even shite weather has its good points.

I don't have a greenhouse!! Have been to Wilko's today for seed trays and compost and will just have to fill up every window sill in the house instead

Not only have we had the longest nights but the light levels have been particularly bad, no wounder we are all suffering to some degree from SAD (seasonal affected disorder)
I am investigating the light systems to combat it. Most solutions cost over £100 to do any good, but it seems the sort of bulb that has a spiral tube and gives out a full spectrum is more reasonable but not cheap,one each side beside you is about the best arrangement. I think the usual name is Bio Bulb

Looks like today is going to be just perfect, weather wise, now let's all get outside and enjoy it, whether it's in the garden or just out for a walk taking in a little bit of nature.
This really is the easiest and cheapest ways of getting a much needed lift at this time of the year.

Tried retail therapy yesterday. Gordon Rigg winter sale - 10% off everything then another 5% if spend over £100 and they are cheaper than most to start with. So after spending £140 on compost, fertiliser, shallots, seed potatoes etc. came home to unload it all and the wheebarrow had a puncture so that deflated (sorry about that) the cheering up effect. Not bad 47 Rocket for £2.25 less 15% I thought. So then I started forking over the greenhouse beds but got frightened by the noise when the gales and torrential rain came back - allright for OH in the balmy (or should that be barmy) South. Seems better today, not pitch dark at 8 for a change, so may finish the beds and start up the propagator.

Morning Geoff, us blokes need the occasional bargain as much as the ladies do.
And wasn't it nice to see it getting light just that little bit earlier this morning, i suppose we were the only ones up to see it.
And i think the barmy bit is quite appropriate, especially for me.

I'm fed up with the dark, dismal, dreary days too. My garden's getting overgrown with weeds because the weather's so warm, but it's too wet to weed. I can't hoe and I cant get the weeds up by hand either because I'm on clay and I'll take half the garden with me if I pull up weeds when the soil's wet.
I find it all very unsettling too. It just doesn't feel right to have such warm weather in January.
