Well Carole B, you were absolutley right about the trapped air, after digging down, and a little tunneling, the air started coming out slowly to start with, but then with considerable pressure, that did make me take a few very quick steps backwards, i don't think it was methane though.

I did have a big panic on for a moment though, when the water in the pond dropped by six inches, but soon realized in would do if the bulge had gone down. :D

It's awfully wet and mucky under the liner, so have put a pipe in as suggested, time will tell.

Thanks again for that answer.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Glad I was able to help O.H.
I haven't had much in the way of time lately,I was made Chair of Governors at my youngest's school and I've been on a learning curve that resembles the Himalayas! It wont entail much more work they said....Haa...what jolly jokers they are!

Carole, I stopped short of being chair at my son's last school, I was a governor at two schools for five years in total, the work they expect you to do, is an indication of the level of bureaucracy and 'Blair tick boxes' that is expected of all government organisations at the moment. It would probably cost the school several thousands a year in salaries to pay someone else to do what governors do.

Saying all that schools have big budgets and teachers can run away with wild ideas so I think governors have an important role to play, so good for you and good luck, one big tip....delegate.

Oh yeah, your right they do tell big porkies too!!
