Having just scanned the web for information on this alleged "bashing" (it not being reported in the quality broadsheets) it would appear that Tigger bashed an obnoxious american child who was probably put up to the provocation by an equally obnoxious father who is now claiming thousands in compensation.

A Disney "cast member" in the US landed a punch on a 14 year old while the parent was filming his kids with the cast member.

I was hoping nobody would notice but I should have realised that you nosey lot (oops, sorry, very observant people) would spot my little misdemeanour.

I like your postings - thoughtful and wise.
I think the forum is much better in terms of it's vesaltiliy, membership and its conection to the magazine - all the things that some of us were asking for. The number of registered users is impressive.
My problem has to do with the fact thst I am still working full time. With the old forum I could easily read the new postings each evening and contribute. Now I have no chance of reading all the sections so tend to give up. I thought that the gereral chatter section might be the one to follow but now realise that this is for frivolous stuff.
It's a good thing that the forum enables people with time to have a chat. But for the rest of us it is difficult to get back into this new club. I also think it might put off new gardeners - which is why I have consistently suggested that there should be a separate section for those starting out. We need a culture that embraces the the new and the old. It would be sad if the forum became just a retirement zone and a place where a few insiders chat about personal things.
We are past the darkest 38 days - spring soon.

It does not need to be that way for you Chris. Just take a look at the best practice and seasonal sections, you will keep up to date then with the serious horticulatural issues.

If you think this forum is fragmented you should see some others.
Do bear in mind that unless one has a fully serviced greenhouse there is not much one can do in the garden or on the plot during the week at the moment. Also in my neck of the woods, the rain and clay are cooperating to deny me the weekends.
Perhaps this is a form of displacement activity, in lieu of proper gardening.

Dear Chris, first of all thankyou for replying to my question.
I have only been a member of the forum for just coming up to year now, but from the very beggining have been made very welcome on the forum, and would just like to thank everybody for that.
I think i know what you mean about new-comers probably finding it hard to join in, especially in the general chatter column, that first posting came hard to me too, it took me several weeks to build up courage to do that first one.
So i agree with you about a column for new gardeners, it would give them a chance to introduce themselves, and probably they could get a bit of encouragement from each other, before breaking out into the other topics.
I think we all try and make all new gardeners welcome though.
It would mean you have another section to check up on though.
I do know that some of the topics do go right of the subject, but i really do think this can make them a lot more interesting, a little like a vicar that has to do sermon after sermon but adds a little humour and stories, and so makes them very enjoyable.
Well i think i may have bored everybody to death, so i better finish for now.

I would have thought this layout would be easier for you to check than the old forum layout. With one great list of topics you would HAVE to open each one to see what it was about whereas now, as has been said already, you can leave the chatter until you have time and just look at the serious subjects.
Whatever you find time to do, I do hope to see more of you this year.
