Monday or what :x Sorry - nothing to do with gardening but I'm so fed up I need to let off some steam.

Was driving to work this morning and came off the A404 onto a slip road. The guy in front was heading for the M40, but decided at the last minute to come off, swerved across the chevrons and right in front of me. I slammed my foot on the brake but couldn't stop and hit him. My poor old R reg Rover is a write off and I've spent the rest of today looking round new and used cars trying to find a deal.

Luckily Mr Man who caused the accident has admitted total liability and we both walked away shaken but OK. I'm feeling all sore and ache ridden now, but nothing serious.

Just not what I needed just before Christmas :cry:

Poor you Sue! It must be Silly Idiots Day on the roads. I nearly had a head-on collision with someone overtaking when there was no space/time for him to do so. Had to brake quite hard.
(By the way, if anyone is ever in a head-on collision, try to take your foot off the brake at the last second. This happened to someone I knew and he took the force of the collision on his foot and lower leg, which broke in 13 places).
At least you walked away from it Sue. It's something to be thankful for! :)

Sue so sorry to hear your bad news.
I'm so pleased that you were not badly hurt, although i bet you will be stiff and sore tomorrow.

One lucky thing, at least you didn't lose any of your good looks. :shock: :D :wink:

Scarey stuff Jenny - I was shaken up enough by my shunt, but a head on does not bear thinking about :shock:

My good looks are fine Herby you old flatterer :wink: It's the car that got the facial re-adjustment i.e. the bonnett is about a metre shorter than when I set off today :roll:

Glad you're ok Sue. That's all that matters.

It must be the day for cars. Looks like mine's about to die a death on me and i'll need a new one. Then, because I was annoyed about my car I went a bit mad on the cross trainer in the gym and pulled muscles in my back.

Works out great for the car cos I can't drive the ******* thing cos of my back now. :roll:

Mondays. Who needs them eh? :?

We get idiots on our journey at rush hour times. It is an A-road but many hills, sharp curves, narrow parts and blind spots galore so the sensible maximum speed is about 50 most of the way. Yet there are idiots that overtake just about anywhere at 60 plus come what may, never sl;owing down,esily recognised as they come. I did the route in a 3-wheeler for 5 years, now we do it in our Volvo, I would be scared to go back to the fibreglass Robin, the thought of a head-on at a combined speed of 110 is awful. Nearly everybody these days violates the Highway Code on tailgating so when possible I allow them past by pulling into any layby.

Yesterday evening I slowed down to turn right into my drive, I was indicating, I live in a 30mph road, and some total a*** decided to overtake me! This guy came from two cars back; perhaps he thought we'd all stopped for chat! I turned right just as he pulled out and then hurridly pulled back in again. This is the SECOND time this has happened this year. The last time a woman who was right behind me, pulled out and accelerated right at me. When she skidded to a halt a mere inch or two from the side of my car, she wound down her window and said "You stupid woman, you could have caused a really nasty accident there". I pointed out (fairly forcefully it has to be said) that I was indicating right to turn in and she said "she thought you'd indicated by mistake". I STILL can't believe it. After last night I'm thinking of driving past my house to turn around and come back so I have to turn left into my drive and not cross the traffic. My car is 22 years old and doesn't have side impact protection :(

weve had a tee junction a mile down the road turned into a mini roandabout theres hardly a week goes by without some pratt coming out the side road without stopping, the last mile or so with a couple of blind bends we share with a tip and skip lorries, fraid in the last two years the cars have gone and we now drive 4x4's.

It's a sight to be seen to be believed :shock: I still can't believe i'm on the thing myself!!!

Back will settle down soon I hope cos I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet.

The traffic by me is very bad. I live off one of the main routes in and out of the city and off the main route to both football stadia. There are accidents all the time. I just tootle along displaying hand signals (wneh necessary) that you aren't taught when learning :shock: I'll stick to my "Tailgating Revenge" trick for now.

I'm must say i'm very lucky where i live, we don't get a lot of road rage, although i nearly got a speeding ticket with my wheelbarrow the other day. :wink:

Hi Sue,
A near fatal accident outside my property this morning. A fast travelling 4x4 came round the bend at god knows what speed and the Dust Cart had stopped to pick up my rubbish and the said 4x4 tried to overtake then realised that another 4x4 was coming the other way and couldn't stop it hit the off side of the dustcart and then blocked the road altogether and the oncoming 4x4 ploughed into it.
The dust cart is still there and they have only just unblocked the road. The offender, a woman, took the full impact of the oncoming 4x4 and I have very grave doubts that she will survive. I had a Helicopter land right next to my house and they were here for about half an hour before they could extract this poor soul.
So glad you are still in one piece though.
It has left me in a state of shock as it all happened in a flash.

Reading your posts made me think .... I have noticed recently that many people do NOT stop at junctions anymore but coast straight round irrespective of who or what is approaching.

Country roads....people who are regulars tend to iron out the corners by crossing over to the opposite lane...too bad if you are the driver approaching.

All this fuss about 4 x 4 vehicles being dangerous ... not so ....they are no different to any other vehicle... its the drivers who are the problem.
I am in my own little world, ...it's OK, ...they know me there!

i think its silly season on the road at the moment!
i just keep meeting people on the lanes who cant/wont reverse and last week was beeped and gesticulated at by a blind old duffer in the wrong lane on a rounabout i go round every day! must say i waved my fingers back! :oops:
as for a cross trainer lizzie-that thought terrifies me!

I have noticed this phenomenon of people taking both left and right corners over the line. I don't understand why there are not more crashes. I keep hard to the left whatever.
The motorcyclists right on the line lean over, it beats me that you never see headless motorcyclists.
