I have to confess I'm not not very enthusiasic about the plastic corks and when the screw top wine bottles were first introduced I thought they were the absolute "pits". However, as I don't have very strong wrists I really struggle with corkscrews, and on one occasion had to abstain from wine for three nights when my husband was away because I simply couldn't open any of the corked bottles! So now I'm a big fan of the screw top bottles, even if the wine buffs wouldn't agree with me. I also find I can recycle them more easily with screw caps as they're ideal for storing home-made fruit syrups.

Wow, this is good stuff :) I never thought I would come across a forum of such like minded people :D

As Primrose has said I find I'm usually better off not contributing on such subjects 'cos of my blood pressure :wink:

Anyway, have worked out what Lizzies **** mean and totally agree. (One of the reasons we have taken a couple of years out of UK..........no we're not tax exiles :wink: )
