Hi forum folks. Not been around much recently to chat to you. Had a great morning digging over the allotment ready for next year, but rain has stopped play now.

My allotment is heavy clay and you could have made bricks out of it when I took it over. Winter digging consisted of turning over huge clods of earth and hoping the frost would break it down into something usable.

I've been composting for England and digging it all back it for the last few years and today I had to stand back and admire the soil condition with my new allotment neighbour for a good 10 minutes or so (gee how sad am I  ) He's one of the old boys and has just given up a huge (immaculate, soil from Harrods if you know what I mean) plot to take the half plot next to me. 'That's the best I've seen your soil, you have done really well with that' he said. Praise or wot :D

Afternoon Sue, we've all really missed you.
By the sounds of it, it's credit where's credits due,
thats unless the old timer's eye sight is dwindling of course. :D
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Sounds excellent Sue. I spent this morning outside too - pruning hollys and other greenery, ready to make some wreaths. It wasn't as bright a day as yesterday, but it was still good to be out there.

Thank you Herby I think :? He did ask me straight afterwards whether I could help him clear the brambles next to him plot mind you - hhhuuummmmm

You clever lady Tigger. Making your own wreaths - sounds a bit technical for me :)

I just wanted to encourage.

The Piglets came to stay this weekend, and brought a GINORMOUS wreath, which I'm tempted to put on the double doors of my 'grown-up-girls' greenhouse it's so huge (!)

I'm a great 'believer' in having a go and letting your own creativity excel.
Sometimes you can surprise yourself beyond belief, and that does an enormous amount for your self-esteem.
And we can all do with a little bit of that...!

Amazing what you can achieve when you give it a go.
Go for it girl !
What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. The good they do is inconceivable....
