Just to say hello - I've started browsing the forum again thought it would be polite to reintroduce myself.

Hi Johnboy, Jenny (a freak now I see), Allan and any others of you who might might remember me - I am a returning user of TKG forum (since 2001) - gave up for a while this year when it changed to this 'busy' format, and I usually slack off in summer.

We grow on 1.5 acres and have 2 tunnels at present on rented land.

My partner is the main veg grower and marketer
She does 55 veg boxes a week all year round plus seasonal stuff for various local retailers/restaurants.

I am a self-employed gardener/landscaper/pruning and training 'expert!'/sort-of consultant/instructor whatever...plus dogsbody/handyman/propagator/thinker for the veg growing.

This summer we started to fulfill our life plan and bought 12.5acres of south facing grade 1 land - sandy loam so a bit 'hungry' and 'dry in summer' but 'early'. Intend to use up to 5 acres for veg/fertility ley ultimately...

We are in the process of getting a borehole done, and track, and two 9mx20m tunnels up. and deer/rabbit fence......

I will obviously be spending more time on the veg (infrastructure)side of things from new year onwards -
I've always been a bit of a 'lurker' when it comes to this forum...

Cheers

Welcome back Mole.

Hope you will enjoy the new Forum. Be warned - Mr Potato Head (aka Forum wizard from KG) is working on yet another format.

Whatever, we're basically the same old breed even if we have a new presentation.

Hi Mole,
I am very pleased to see you back into the fold and this time I hope that it will be more than the occasional lurk. Your information on fruit and pruning have been sorely missed.
Great to see you back!
JB.

Glad to see you back. By your CV you are very close to my way of working, probably more so than anybody else so let us look forward to more cross-fertilisation of ideas. There is more to Kitchen Gardening than allotments and Grow Your Own on one side and the big boys and Supermarkets on the other, Even Organics and Local Grown doesn't express it fully.

Good morning Mole, it will be nice to have somebody else with so much knowledge back on the forum.
I thought you must have been in the know, by your last couple of previous postings.
Sounds as if your partner is a grafter as well. :D
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome back. I'm pleased to be remembered. Will have to get myself an avatar too - why don't folks use their own mugshots I wonder?

I see that you're still doing the night-shift Johnboy.
Lizzie - are you still doing those parties or have the moderators stepped in....

Jopsy - I am near Ottery St Mary on the west side of the River Otter allegely the warmest part of Devon on average

Yes O.H. my partner is a grafter - puts me to shame...

she hasn't time for cyberstuff - come to think of it neither have I - supposed to be doing accounts and orders...

Bye
